ScanPass Pro

Everyone understands that secure passwords are important. But entering a secure password on a touch screen is a poor experience. We built ScanPass to make this easier, but recognize that some users would be concerned about the possibility of losing their QR codes. ScanPass Pro allows users to securely tie the printed QR codes to a specific device.

ScanPass Pro now available on the app store.

To create ScanPass Pro bar codes, download the free Barcode Creator utility for Mac and Windows here.

Generating a QR Code for your device

  1. Install and launch the ScanPass Pro application. You will be prompted to configure the application. Optionally, configure a Dropbox account to enable easy sharing of the self-signed certificate generated in the next step.

  2. Generate a new self-signed certificate and copy the certificate to application documents directory for retrieval using iTunes and, optionally, to the root folder of the Dropbox account if that was configured.

  3. Retrieve the new certificate. Launch Barcode Creator, click the Choose Certificate button and browse to the certificate.

  4. Launch ScanPass Pro and click the certificate thumbprint button. Confirm the thumbprint shown on the device matches the thumbprint displayed by Barcode Creator.

  5. Enter passwords into Barcode Creator and print the resulting QR code or copy it into new document to contain multiple QR codes. The contents of the QR codes can only be read when decrypted using the private key stored in the device keychain.

Using ScanPass Pro on iPhone/iPad
